L400 Inclinometer Replacement

This guide will show you how to replace the inclinometer in your Delica L400 with our replacement module. This is a simple procedure, but will require some minor cutting & drilling. Care must be taken, as the plastics used in the gauge pods themselves will be inherently old.

Tools & Parts:

  1. Philips Head Screwdriver
  2. Saw Blade
  3. 3mm Drill Bit
  4. Replacement Inclinometer and Included Hole Template
  5. Panel Popper Tool

1. Using a panel popper tool, pop off the gauge pod cover. There are three tension clips that hold it in place.

2. Remove the two philips head screws on either side of the pod.

3. With the pod free, disconnect the electrical connector. There is a small button on the rear that needs to be depressed in order to disconnect it.

4. Remove the four philips head screws that retain the plastic front cover.

5. Remove the seven philips head screws holding the plastic lens cover.

6. Remove the three philips head screws that retain the original inclinometer on the back of the unit.

7. Cut away the upper alignment peg and rib, flush with the upper ceiling. This will provide clearance for the replacement module. I did this by hand with a sawzall blade (you could probably melt it off with a soldering iron as well). See Images below:

8. Use the provided template to drill three 3mm holes on the back of the unit. This will be the new mounting point. The template will fit into the original mounting holes for alignment. I used a hand drill to do this.

9. Use the original screws to mount the inclinometer module using the newly drilled holes.

10. Carefully re-assemble!
