Door Gauge Pod Installation

For RHD Delica L300 with power windows and 52mm gauges

This gauge mounts to the driver’s side door card and pod holds two 52mm gauges. Removal of the door card is necessary for installation.

  1. Mock up the gauge pod on the door card with the door closed to ensure that there is no interference with any parts of the dash. The pod can be moved forward to accommodate any interferences.

2. Follow Steps 1-7 of the Keyless Entry Installation Guide for door card removal. Adding Keyless Entry
3. Mock up the gauge pod on the door card and mark it’s location with tape, as shown below.

4. Apply the provided paper hole template as shown below.

5. Use push pins to poke through the door card in the three hole locations as shown below. These will mark the holes to be drilled.

6. Remove the pushpins, template and tape. Use a 1/16″ drill bit to drill out the three holes marked by the push pins.
7. Partially screw in the provided fasteners, so the tips just start to poke through the door card, as shown below.

8. Mount and wire your 52mm gauges in the pod.
9. There are two methods to run the wires. The first is to cut a hole in the door card to run the wires in. This is cleaner, but will require more cutting. Some door cards are a two piece design allowing the wires to be run through the panel joint, no cutting is required. The second is to run the wires through the provided gap on the pod and into the door handle bezel. This is easier and requires no cutting, shown below.

Two piece door car with wires run between the panels.

10. Once you have chosen your wiring method, Hold the gauge pod over the screws, and ensure the screws are aligned with their respective holes.
11. Start to screw the pod in by turning each screw several turns in a clockwise pattern. This will ensure that the pod maintains a flush alignment while being installed, reducing stress on fasteners.
12. With the pod secure, hang the door card from the window sill, but do not fully secure it.
13. Continue dressing the wires. We recommend having a connection point for wiring behind the door card, so that the Door card can be removed with the pod, without future wire cutting. For the external wiring method, we recommend using the door handle bezel to secure the wires. This keeps them out of the way of any moving parts, as shown below.

14. If wires are mounted internally (via cut hole) then secure the wires away from any moving parts with enough slack to access the door card while it is hanging on the door sill.
15. Connective wiring can be run along side existing wiring and over the flexible wire carrier. We ziptied our wire bundle on top of the flexible wire carrier and entered the cabin in the same location as the stock wiring harness. We used an razor blade to cut a hole in the existing grommet This required the removal of the turn signal assembly.
