REAR STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE LINE

For Delica L300 with 4D56

This Installation will go over the parts needed to upgrade the rear brake line with easily available parts.

Tools & Parts:

  • Russel 656062 24″ brake line (accommodates 2″ lift)
  • Russel 641411 adapter fittings 2x (1 pack)
  • 10mm spanner wrench
  • 18mm spanner wrench
  • Pliers
  • Hammer
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • DOT 4 brake fluid (you will need to bleed the brakes)

1. Remove the retaining clips and the existing brake line using a 10mm spanner. If it starts to round the flare nuts, then use a special 10mm brake line wrench.

2. Ensure the threads and mating surfaces of the fittings and brake line are clean.

3. The original brake line brackets have two bent features (circled below in red) that would prevent the original line from rotating. These features will accommodate the new fittings, but may require them to be bent a hair farther, increasing the space between them. This can be done with a flat head screwdriver and a few taps from a hammer.

4. Install the adapters and brake lines, ensuring that the adapters fit correctly.

5. Replace the original retaining clips.

6. Ensure all threads and mating surfaces are clean and tighten everything down. I recommend holding the fittings with an 18mm spanner so they do not damage the mounting brackets.

7. Bleed the brakes. There is a single bleed screw located on the back of the drivers side drum.
